STAR Training

STAR - Alabama's Assistive Technology Resource, a federally funded program designed to increase access to and acquisition of Assistive Technology (AT) for Alabamians with disabilities.

Custom-designed for specific groups, these training modules include:

• Training for education professionals such as special education teachers, classroom teachers, parent groups and other groups that need basic awareness and understanding of AT and the role it plays in the improvement, functioning and independence of students with disabilities,
• Training for employment professionals that focus on the use and value of AT in workplace environments,
Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services • Training for the aging population and professionals working with older adults,
• Training for parents and Early Intervention professionals working with young children.

Project ACT

Computer technology training modules specifically targeted for people with developmental disabilities and related conditions. The content of these training modules will cover topics which will primarily increase computer literacy and promote independence, including:

• basic computer skills,
• internet navigation, and
• internet safety
